We Are Here!

I have to start out by saying how faithful the Lord is.  We are here!  After a friend dropped us off at the airport, and we had checked in-- just as we were boarding our first flight, I noticed that the attendant had taken our printed out E-Tickets and only gave us boarding passes for the first flight.  Of course this made me incredibly nervous since we were usually given all of our connecting flight boarding passes-- and in the process I forgot the time of our second flight.  In perfect John fashion, he told me not to worry about it because God's got it under control-- but that was incredibly hard for me.  I prayed and prayed and prayed and God gave me peace about 1/2 hour into the flight.  Once we got to Frankfurt, that was a different story.  I sort of went back to my worry wart mode as John continued to think nothing of it.  Eventually it got worked out-- actually it wasn't a big deal at all and I enjoyed the rest of our 2 hour layover.  The 2nd leg of our trip was less than 3 hours.  Each of us had only slept an hour two by that time so we had trouble keeping our eyes open.  But we did so that we could go to sleep on normal Kiev time tonight.  Doing this has helped us to get used to the time difference very quickly.

We learned that Ukraine no longer requires Immigration forms to be filled out, and even though I filled out the form stating where we would be staying and the purpose for our visit, we were never asked to show it.  Overall, immigration was a breeze!

Our facilitator was waiting for us and drove us to this really nice and spacious apartment in Kiev just a couple minutes from the SDA building.  Ooops, my bad-- I was told it is no longer called the SDA.  So what is it called now?-- hopefully I will find out tomorrow!

Internet is slow and I have to sit next to a certain wall for the best signal strength, but I can't complain.  Better than nothing.  I hope to upload pictures of our evening walk and of the apartment when I get the chance.

Tomorrow we will meet with the adoption officials and hopefully get the referrals of two very special little boys.  Since we can't get the official paperwork until the next day we will head out to the region on Friday evening. Meanwhile, I hope to meet up with another adoptive family or two and perhaps some old friends.

Thanks for your prayers and encouraging comments.  I miss you kids!
